Ingress Protection Rating
IP ratings
The international protection system for enclosures (IP) is particularly relevant for hazardous areas. A non-sparking electrical apparatus, for example, will have an IP64 rating. The first digit indicates the degree of protection against touching live parts and the ingress of dust. The second digit indicates the degree of protection against the ingress of liquid. Table 3 lists all the IP ratings.
