Type 439 GK

This luminaire range has G13 lamp holders of special design to allow the use of standard bi-pin lamps and is used with an electronic control gear.

Rated 50-60Hz also DC with a nominal voltage of 230V. Temperature rating T4, gas group II.

Optional extra: Isolating switch can be incorporated on the control gear rail.

Emergency Luminaire with Integrated Battery Pack.

Body: DMC glass fibre reinforced polyester, compression moulded.

Lens: Clear Polycarbonate.

Cable Entry: standard with Ex e compression gland. Cable diam. 6-12 mm. Alternatively with No 1/0 Ex e gland for armoured cable. Incoming terminal size max 2x4 mm².

Lens Frame: A stainless steel lens frame, clips over the diffuser and ensures a constant seal against the gasket. Hinges to one side for lamp changes.

Gland Identification: 1 PO is one No. 0 Exe compression gland. 1 MO is one No. 0, Exe gland SWA for PVC SWA cable.

Mounting: M8 eyebolts/hooks are supplied. Pole clamps and wall/ceiling brackets are available on order.

Polemounting ø 50 mm : Wall/Ceiling brackets.

Switch: An internal bipole isolating switch, which is triggered from the lens, can be incorporated at the incoming terminal block.

Gasket: Closed cell neoprene glued into the body.

Lamps: G13, 26 mm. Tubular Fluorescent.

Reflector: The control gear is behind the mild steel white epoxy powder coated reflector, which is held in position with three captive thumb screws.

Application Restriction: Not for use in a fiery mine.

Control Gear Rail: The electronic control gear, G13 lampholders and terminal block are mounted on a galvanised rail suspended from three body inserts.

Emergency Control Gear: The 36 and 58watt luminaires are available with integral control gear.

Note: Lightning Protection: All electronic products such as light fittings and computers are subject to violent destruction when struck by lightning. An independent lightning protection device, well earthed, needs to be inserted in the supply line before the lighting circuit, where any electronic control gear is used in light fittings. Control gear damaged by lightning is not covered under guarantee.

TEMPERATURE CLASSES

1 2 3
Temperature class Limiting
temperature OC
Gases and vapours against which protection is afforded*
T1 450 Chiorobenzene, ammonia, carbon monoxide, coal gas, hydrogen, water gas
T2 300 Acetone, ethane, ethly chloride, xylene, benzene (pure), methane, methanol, naphthalene, propane, toluene, ethyl acetate, ethanol, ethylene, cyclohexanone, iso-amylacetate, 1.4 dioxan, n-butane, n-butyl-alcohol, acetic acid, buta-1.3-diene, vinyl acetate, ethyl benzene
T3 200 Acetylene, n-propyl-alcohol, petrol, crude oil, turpentine, cyclohexane
T4 135 n-tetradecane, tetrahydrofuran, trichlorosilane, ethyl glycol, n-hexane, n-heptane, n-nonane acetaldehyde, ethyl ether
T5 100 No gas or vapour specified as yet
T6 85 Carbon disulphide

* Apparatus classified in a temperature class is deemed to be suitable for use in gases and vapours appropriate to that and lower temperature classes. For instance, a lamp reaching a temperature of 130 °C would be marked T4. That temperature would not ignite

the gases or vapours in the T4 row; neither would it ignite the gases or vapours in the T3, T2, or T1 rows. However, that temperature would ignite gases or vapours in the T5 or T6 rows, such as carbon disulphide.

NOTE: Single and double fittings are the same size.
